Lance Armstrong
An award-winning cyclist at 25, Lance Armstrong became a cancer survivor at the same age. It’s Not about the Bike: My Journey Back to Life (2000) is his story of overcoming obstacles, on the bike and in the hospital. It is also the story of the women in his life, particularly his mother, who stood by him, along with his friends, supporting him in all his endeavours.

Cancer
Of course this story is not just about the bicycle; it is also the story of one man’s cancer. But Armstrong wants all those with cancer to be able to inform themselves about the disease and the patient’s options. With a view to this he founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Following are a very few selections on cancer, and how some people deal with it.

Relationships/Family
Armstrong speaks openly about his mother’s struggles as a single parent, and with great warmth about her unfailing devotion to his cause. He is also candid about his relationships with other women, his wife in particular, and with his friends.

Sports
One of the many issues facing Armstrong in his comeback was the spectre of doping—in sports in general, in the Tour de France in particular, and specifically in accusations against himself. The profession of sports presents great challenges to most professionals, as witnessed by the stories listed below.
